Many of us are taught at a young age the importance of being grounded and remaining focused in school, at work and in our daily lives. It’s just as important to allow yourself to, on occasion, release from this mindset, so your mind, body and soul can get a well-deserved break. We may have found the best place to do this… in nature, off the ground, but with everything you need and want. And, it’s just an hour east of Jefferson City. How about a stay in a delightfully unique treehouse in Hermann?

Built just five years ago, this five-acre retreat is home to three custom-designed treehouses and one cabin with a tree top deck and hot tub. The treehouses vary in size and capacity, but all have heat and AC, hot and cold water, a fridge, microwave and coffee maker.

One treehouse is even handicap accessible, making this unique experience available to all.

These aren’t the splinter-prone, rustic treehouses of our childhood. These are posh, clean, living spaces with full bathrooms(!) and all the comforts of home – AND a delicious breakfast to boot. Surrounded by nature, which is visible outside from large wrap around porches or from the tons of windows within, you can’t help but slow down, breathe deeply, and appreciate the world around you and the people you’re sharing it with. Although equipped with Wi-Fi, you might choose to set those devices aside and instead enjoy a glass of wine and a card game while listening to the sounds of nature.

Inside the treehouse is just as much of a retreat. Wooden flooring and window treatments tie in the natural colors from outside while bright white walls and cool calming colors allow the natural light to fill the space. Vaulted ceilings keep with the light and airy feel. If you choose to enjoy the nature from safely inside, a counter along the wall of windows creates the perfect space to sip your morning coffee (or evening wine).

Nearby, the adorable German town of Hermann can certainly contribute when it comes to a need for a release. From hearty bratwurst and Schnitzel to everyone’s favorite Bavarian pretzel, you’ll find the finest German fare, immersing your tastebuds in a new world of flavors.

Speaking of flavors, Hermann is also home to many fine wineries and breweries, a few of which have been in the business for many generations. While Oktoberfest is likely their most popular time of year, there are events throughout the year that attract visitors from throughout Missouri and beyond. From stimulating wine trails to festive live music and special events, you’re sure to find a reason to visit the town of Hermann.

Gain a new perspective and appreciation for life, off the ground and among the trees, but without sacrificing comfort and style.
