When the homeowners bought their home in Jefferson City, they aspired to make the outdoor space a multi-functional, refreshing area to enjoy time with friends and family.
The project started with a new deck, railings, and a built-in outdoor kitchen that is easily accessible from the home’s main kitchen. Grey stamped concrete underfoot ties in with the grey stonework of the outdoor kitchen. The couple added a large dining table and some cozy Adirondack chairs with colorful cushions. Potted plants throughout the area bring color and life to the space. A gate was installed at the top of the stairs to keep the family’s pups contained.
As you venture down the staircase, you get the feeling that this home is surrounded by nature – despite being right in town. The large patio extends from the large, recessed space under the deck all the way across the back of the home.
During the planning process, the couple was faced with the decision of whether to build a fire pit or a fireplace. The decision was ultimately made since there are so many trees surrounding the back of the property: a fireplace would be the safer option. The couple got to work sketching out designs and settled on a massive, stately brick fireplace with a tall chimney and built-in wood storage. This gorgeous addition is the definite statement piece of the outdoor living area. With seating semi-circled around and a hot tub just off to the side, it is easy to imagine the many lovely evenings spent enjoying the sounds and smells of a crackling fire, while relaxing with loved ones.
Underneath the deck, you’ll find a large porch swing, flanked on either side by lush, green ferns. Across the way is a lovely, shaded seating area with a couch, chairs, and coffee table, for the ultimate in peace and tranquility.
For those looking to get a little sun, there are a couple of sun loungers perched on the corner of the patio, just waiting for the warm rays of summer sunshine. This space was so thoughtfully and carefully designed with the unique needs of a family with older children in mind. This is a space that everyone in the family can enjoy together or separate into groups when the kids have friends over.
This beautifully designed space is its own little slice of paradise right in Jefferson City.
