Household items typically fall into two categories: those that help you accomplish something and those that look nice or serve as decoration. Take a toaster, for instance. While many manufacturers have attempted to improve the look of the toaster with bold colors and fancy chrome accents, at the end of the day, you wouldn’t have the metal box on your kitchen counter if you didn’t need it to make your avocado toast or for your kid’s waffle obsession.
Separately, you’re typically buying artwork for the master bath or that vase for the dining room table for the sole purpose of making your home look nice and representing your family’s unique style. Those items don’t need to serve another purpose or functionality.
There is one piece in many homes, however, that stands out as serving multiple purposes – both to provide you with something (the time) and to serve as decoration for your home. The clock. Clock varieties are enormous. There are those funky, Salvador Dali clocks that work with many modern spaces and then there are the old-world style clocks that bring richness and warmth to traditional homes. There are clocks that are huge centerpieces in large living rooms and those that are more reminiscent of small timepieces suitable for quaint farmhouse kitchens.
Here are a few of our favorite clocks we’ve found at various shops around Jefferson City. Which one fits your home (and style) for telling time?
