Hello! We would like to take a moment to introduce ourselves. We are Aaron & Kristy DeBuhr, the new owners of Imagemark Marketing & Advertising and publishers of Capital Lifestyles. We could not be more excited to be a part of a business with such a long history of great service, creative ideas and quality solutions.
We recently relocated from Colorado with our two wonderful children, Kale (8) and Maya (5) and two high-energy dogs, Kaiser & Stella. We cherished our time in Colorado and have tons of great memories but are elated to be closer to family and many of Aaron’s lifelong friends who he grew up with in northeastern Missouri. We have enjoyed exploring the area and all it has to offer and know we are in good company sporting our Cardinals and Mizzou gear around town! It was not long before we realized that we made a good choice to move to Jefferson City. Despite the masked smiles, the friendly gestures and simple waves ‘hello’ have made us feel at home from the onset.
Our kindergartner and 3rd grader immediately felt comfortable on their first day of school and were excited to share the names of the friends they made and what they liked best about their day. We have been so impressed by the school, teachers and staff and their commitment to ensure our children thrive.
Our story is similar, in a way, to the one you will read about in this issue of Capital Lifestyles, titled New Beginnings. Like the homeowners in this article, we took the opportunity to start anew, moving to a close-knit community where we could raise our children in a safe and comfortable place with family nearby.
We quickly understood why Jefferson City is one of America’s top places to live and look forward to helping to preserve that well-deserved acknowledgment. We have some ideas of how to bring more of what the area has to offer into Capital Lifestyles, sharing personal experiences along our journey. This was our inspiration for the piece on the city’s newest park, Community Park. We stumbled upon this park over the summer and it has quickly become a family favorite.
We have always admired the beautiful spreads in Capital Lifestyles and could not be more excited to continue publishing this high quality, creatively designed magazine. In this edition of Capital Lifestyles, you will find delightful outdoor living spaces to ponder and, whether your style is simple or exuberant, artistic ideas for the kitchen. We think you’ll enjoy hearing stories of heartwarming transformations for a family of five and of a dream home crafted with puzzle piece precision after years of collecting the very material he would use to build it. We also think you will be inspired by the meaningful partnerships created between homeowners and their local construction and design teams, alongside the amazing suppliers that make visions and inspirations become reality.
As a final note, we would like to thank Sandra Forbis and Donna Viessman for the opportunity to take the reins as publishers of Capital Lifestyles. Their hard work and relentless dedication to each and every client is evident in all the lives they have touched in this great community. Please join us in wishing them a joyous retirement!
A Change in Lifestyle
In a way, building a magazine is very similar to building a home. Each one starts with a plan and evolves as choices are made, design themes are set, and photographs and words are crafted into the story of each homeowner’s journey. For over 25 years, we have poured our energy and care into bringing this beautiful magazine to readers throughout Central Missouri.
The people we work closely with, the businesses who advertise and the homeowners who allow us to feature their beautiful homes, have become family to us, and we value each and every relationship we’ve been blessed with. As we turn the pages of this fall issue, we also turn a page on a new chapter in our lives. We have decided to take a step back and entrust the future of Capital Lifestyles to Aaron and Kristy DeBuhr, who are the new owners of Imagemark Marketing and Advertising and Capital Lifestyles magazine.
As publishers, this is bittersweet for the two of us. We have truly loved publishing Capital Lifestyles Magazine. We focused on building and remodeling because home is what impacts all of us each and every day. There are so many talented craftsmen and businesses who are involved in the entire process, whether it is new construction, a major remodel or a room refresh, it takes a community to build what we value most – home. Looking back, we have always been amazed by the skillful interpretation of the dreams of our homeowners, and because of them we’ve been able to fill thousands of pages with inspiration for your home.
Aaron and Kristy are excited to pick up the torch and continue to publish Capital Lifestyles and bring fresh new ideas to its pages… and website. They are smart, hardworking, full of energy and will infuse the publication with new ideas and inspiration. We know you’ll enjoy everything they have planned for the future!
Thank you for welcoming us into your home for nearly 26 years!
