Still Moon Silo is a charming little surprise of a stay just 20 minutes away from downtown Kansas City. Situated on twelve acres of land and surrounded by an additional 100 acres of forest, it’s a true woodland oasis in what could otherwise be a busy suburb. This property is a gem hidden in the city.
Unassuming from the outside, the structure just looks like an old grain silo with a couple of doors and a deck, but the true magic of this space happens as you approach the front door. The front porch is constructed from lumber that was harvested on the property and has been painstakingly assembled in a jigsaw-like pattern, paying homage to the wood’s natural shape and beauty. This theme is continued on the deck that sits off the loft bedroom.
As you enter the home, you’re greeted with gorgeous stained concrete floors and rounded walls that are covered with white-painted wood planks, creating a clean and calming environment. A small but well-appointed kitchen is open to a seating area and storage space, divided by a uniquely designed spiral staircase. Off the main living area is a bathroom oasis with Moroccan-styled floor tile and a wooden soaker tub, for ultimate relaxation. The bathroom is closed off with a sliding barn door for privacy.
As you wind your way up the staircase, the space opens up to a large airy loft with a reclaimed pallet wood-planked ceiling with a massive fan for circulation. The bed is large and comfortable with easy viewing of the TV. The thoughtful owners installed a coffee station right next to the bed, so you can brew your morning cup to enjoy on the deck overlooking the spacious grounds.
It is clear that every detail was considered in this unique build. The homeowners spent countless hours in the evenings and on weekends building and finishing this fantastic labor of love so that they could make it available for others to enjoy.
